Now I will analyze this text by Deena Kamel called "A language without limits" focusing on what I felt was the most important topic: the globalization.
This text refers to the variation of the English language because of different cultures. Hinglish, Chinglish and Arabazi are only examples of how much variations have this language among the world. The text shows some examples of Arabic people now living in Canada, they say that they are still using their first language because of the respect they have for their cultures and their families, but in their usual and common life they use hybrids like Arabazi. For me this situation is a direct consequence of globalization and specially the globalization of the language English itself. I liked very much a sentence from the text, because it made me think about a lot of things in language "That´s a direct consequence of international scope, the fact that English has travelled so far around the world and mixed with so many other cultures and has absorbed influences from all those other cultures. It has been an amazingly tolerant language" This sentences made me think of all the facts that change language and make this human ability open ended and creative. It´s incredible to know that English has up to 700.000 words because of the cultures and communities around the world, and I feel proud of myself to know this language that can be useful in so many parts of the world.
